Hi, I’m Sammy Hunter, the cook, writer, and memory-keeper behind FlavorArchive.com. This blog started in the most ordinary way: trying to keep track of the recipes my kids actually liked enough to ask for again. What began as scribbles in a notebook turned into a passion project, and now it’s grown into a space where I share not just what we eat, but the stories that come with it.
For me, food has always been more than ingredients and directions—it’s how we celebrate, how we comfort, and how we stay connected. Documenting the meals that make my family smile felt like a way to capture those little everyday moments before they slipped away. Over time, it’s become a living archive of flavors we’ve loved, recipes we’ve rediscovered, and new ones we’ve made our own.
On Flavor Archive, you’ll find a mix of family-friendly staples, recipes inspired by traditions near and far, and the occasional “let’s see if this works” experiment. I try to keep things approachable, flexible, and fun—because if a recipe doesn’t fit into real life with kids running around the kitchen, it probably won’t work for me either.
Along the way, my work has found its way into places like The New York Times Cooking Community and Sift Magazine, and I’ve been lucky enough to connect with others who care about preserving and celebrating the everyday recipes that make life delicious.
When I’m not writing or cooking, I’m usually chasing after my kids, poking around thrift shops for old cookbooks, or experimenting with something bubbling away in the pantry. (Fermentation is a bit of an obsession in my house.)
So, welcome! Whether you’re here to find your next weeknight dinner, to try something new, or just to get lost in a good food story, I’m glad you’re here. Grab a seat at the table—there’s always room for one more.
